Automatic Detection System
When a building is not sprinkled throughout then an automatic detection system
may be required. This system typically consists of smoke detectors
and heat detectors spaced in accordance with NFPA standards, manual pull
stations (may or may not be required - consult AHJ), horn strobes and
strobes placed in accordance with NFPA standards. These systems are
designed to automatically detect the presence of heat or smoke and to
trigger an alarm at the fire panel and trigger the horns and
strobes.
This type of system is typically monitored by a UL Listed Central Station per
code.
