Evacuation systems are generally a voluntary system requested by the customer. Regulations do not typically require an evacuation system be installed. Company policy or other reasons may require the need for an evacuation system. However, even though these systems are voluntary once your opt to install them they have to be installed to code as interpreted by the AHJ.
Evacuation systems typically consist of manual pull stations, horn strobes, and strobe units. These systems are designed to trigger an audible and visual alarm when it is necessary to evacuate the building. The alarm is manual activated by use of a manual pull station to trigger the system.
This system may or may not be required to be monitored by a UL Listed Central Station, verify with the AHJ. This type of system is typically monitored by a UL Listed Central Station per code.
