Video Multiplexers
Video multiplexers allow for
multiple cameras to be viewed and simultaneously recorded on a
single VCR. Most manufacturers produce a 4, 9, or 16 camera
capacities in both monochrome and color capabilities.
Multiplexers can be either simplex
or duplex. Simplex multiplexers allow for one mode of operation,
either recording or playback. Therefore, when reviewing tapes the
system is not recording.
Duplex multiplexers allow for two
modes of operations and require two VCR, one for recording and one for
playback. With a duplex multiplexer you can review tapes while continuously
recording.
Pelco has introduced a full line of
video multiplexers that offer a lot of features not previously offered
with other lines of multiplexers. Features such as VCR
synchronization and activity detection.
